One Day of Practice, Championship Glory: Harini Suresh and Sai Samhitha C’s Stunning Pickleball Upset at Coimbatore Open

Harini Suresh Pickleball Women’s Doubles Win: Harini Suresh and Sai Samhitha C won the Women’s Doubles title at the Coimbatore Pickleball Open 2025, defeating Swetha Sree Hari and Kesica Jayapalan 11-3, 11-6 in the final. For Harini, it was her debut women’s doubles tournament, making the victory even more special.

A Last-Minute Partnership

The winning duo came together unexpectedly. Harini teamed up with her former tennis coach at the last minute, and the partnership worked perfectly on court. Speaking after the win, Harini credited her ex-coach.

“He’s my coach (pointing towards Prasanna), all credit goes to him. I teamed up with my ex-tennis coach, actually, it was a very last-minute plan and I think we did a really great job. We were really better than yesterday on the court and thank God we just won the tournament. It’s quite unbelievable for me and this is my first Women’s Doubles tournament and I’ve won this. So it’s going to be a great memory for me. Thank you so much,” she said.

Minimal Practice, Maximum Impact

Remarkably, Harini admitted that she practiced only a day before the tournament. She explained that guidance from her partner, Sai Samhitha C, made a huge difference.

“I think this is going to be a great boost to my confidence actually, more than my game. So, this will just keep me going and I’ll actually be playing more tournaments from this. So basically to be honest, I don’t practice, I just practice like one day before the tournament. This time, since she was my ex-coach, she was also guiding me through this. So I think our partnership was quite a click on this one. So that’s the secret, yeah,” Harini highlighted.

Adapting to Pickleball

Harini, originally from Chennai, reflected on how she had to adjust her style from tennis to pickleball. She also admitted that the competition at the Coimbatore event was tougher than expected.

“I think I just leave my tennis strokes a little bit back and then move with more of the pickleball strokes. That’s the one thing I have to do in the next tournament. The competition was actually really tough here, I didn’t expect this much competition because the previous tournaments I played, it had a really good competition but here on this tournament I didn’t expect this much to happen. It was actually really good. I’m pretty proud that we actually won this tournament because the competition was pretty massive. So it’s quite a win-on-win,” she added.

A Simple Takeaway

For Harini, the most important lesson was to enjoy the game. “Nothing, just play pickleball. It’s just a happy sport that’s all,” she concluded with a smile.

Significance of the Win

The victory not only gave Harini Suresh and Sai Samhitha C the Women’s Doubles title but also marked the rise of a new partnership in Indian pickleball. For Harini, the win was more than a trophy—it was a major boost of confidence and a stepping stone for future tournaments.
