The Hyderabad Open 2025 kicked off the World Pickleball League (WPBL) On Tour, drawing over 250 players and featuring a Rs. 15 lakhs prize pool. Held over three days, the event marked the first leg of the six-city tour, organized by WPBL in collaboration with the Hyderabad Superstars franchise.
Tournament Details and Participants
The Hyderabad Open included 60 competitive categories for players from U-18 to over-50 divisions. Matches used DUPR-based draws to ensure fair competition. WPBL stars from previous seasons headlined the tournament, including local favorite Kuldip Mahajan representing the Hyderabad Superstars.
Champions and Key Winners
Kuldip Mahajan won the Pro Men’s Singles title. Other winners included Anuja Maheshwari in Pro Women’s Singles, Vanshik Kapadia in Pro Men’s and Mixed Doubles, Vrushali Thakare in Pro Women’s and Mixed Doubles, Isha Lakhani in Pro Women’s Doubles, and Tejas Mahajan in Pro Men’s Doubles.
WPBL Expansion Plans
Gaurav Natekar, WPBL Founder and CEO, announced plans for over 50 events under the WPBL On Tour series, concluding with Mumbai for Season 2. Rakul Preet Singh and Jackky Bhagnani, Hyderabad Superstars co-owners, praised the turnout and aim to attract over 500 players for the next edition. Co-owner Srinath Chitturi highlighted the strong local support.
Next Stop: Delhi Open
Following Hyderabad, the WPBL On Tour moves to New Delhi for the Delhi Open, scheduled from August 28 to 31, 2025. The tour aims to expand pickleball’s reach across India and engage more players in competitive and recreational play.
