India Pickleball World Cup Team Selection: Eight Indian players were selected on Saturday, August 30, 2025, to represent the country at the second edition of the Pickleball World Cup. The trials were held at the Indian Pickleball Association’s (IPA) National Centre for Excellence in Ahmedabad. The global tournament will take place in Florida, USA, from October 27 to November 2, 2025.

Players Selected on Day One

Among the chosen names are Aman Patel in men’s singles and Amrita Mukherjee in women’s singles. Dhiren Patel and Suraj Desai were selected in men’s doubles, while Rakshika Ravi and Sindoor Mittal earned places in women’s doubles. In the U16 girls’ category, Aayra Khanna and Anushka Chhabaria secured spots.

Trials and Participation

The trials, held on August 30–31, brought together over 140 players from across India, including Delhi, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Assam, Rajasthan, Odisha, Haryana, and Gujarat. The second day will decide the U16 boys’ and 50+ categories. A total of 14 players, two coaches, and two managers will be named to the final team.

The U16 boys’ matches will be played without singles events. For the 50+ category, one pair each in men’s doubles and women’s doubles will be selected on Sunday.

A Landmark Moment

IPA president Suryaveer Singh Bhullar called the day historic.

“Today is a landmark day for Indian pickleball as we begin the process of selecting the first official Indian team for the Pickleball World Cup. For the first time, players will represent India under the aegis of the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports and the Sports Authority of India, with the Indian Pickleball Association recognised as the National Sports Federation for the sport.”

He added:

“It is also a proud moment as we move from being an emerging sport to officially fielding a national team on the global stage. The enthusiasm of players from across the country underlines pickleball’s rapid growth and bright future in India.”

Event Context

The trials coincided with India’s National Sports Day celebrations, observed from August 29–31, making the event even more meaningful for players and officials.

The Pickleball World Cup was first held in Lima, Peru, in October 2024, with more than 500 athletes from over 30 countries taking part. India’s debut at the second edition highlights the sport’s rising popularity within the country.

Looking Ahead

With India now preparing to compete at the World Cup, the players selected on day one are expected to inspire more interest in the sport. The remaining selections on day two will complete the historic team that will represent the nation on the international stage.
