Indian Pickleball Association Tournament Warning: The Indian Pickleball Association (IPA) has issued a public warning against the All India Pickleball Association (AIPA) and the Jammu & Kashmir Amateur Pickleball Association (JKAPA) for planning an unauthorised tournament in Jammu from September 26-28, 2025. The IPA clarified that this event cannot be called a “National Event.”
IPA’s Authority and Regulations
As the sole National Sports Federation for Pickleball under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports (MYAS) and the Sports Authority of India (SAI), the IPA has exclusive rights to organise official national championships.
“Such activities risk creating confusion among players, sponsors, and government bodies, including the J&K Government and the State Olympic Association,”
said Suryaveer Singh Bhullar, President, Indian Pickleball Association.
Official National Championship
Suryaveer Singh Bhullar confirmed that the only official National Championship for pickleball will be conducted by the IPA in Bangalore in November 2025. The event will be held with proper notification to the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS) and the relevant state authorities.
IPA’s Demands and Legal Action
The IPA has demanded that AIPA cancel the unauthorised event immediately and inform all players and interested parties. If the organisations do not comply, the IPA will pursue legal action against AIPA and JKAPA, seeking both civil and criminal remedies, including financial damages.
Protecting the Sport
The IPA emphasized its commitment to maintaining the integrity of pickleball in India. By ensuring all national-level competitions follow official rules, the association aims to prevent confusion and protect athletes, sponsors, and the sports community.
