From Global Golds to Chennai Shores: Mihika Yadav Aims to Make History at India’s First Beachside PWR 1000 Pickleball Event

Mihika Yadav Chennai PWR 1000 Pickleball: Mihika Yadav, India’s top-ranked women’s singles pickleball player, is gearing up for The Rise Up Championship – Pickleball By The Bay 2025, the country’s first PWR 1000 event in Chennai. She will compete in open women’s singles, open women’s doubles with Gurdleen Singh, and open mixed doubles with Amol Ramchandani.

Rising Star on Domestic and International Courts

Mihika has quickly become a leading figure in Indian pickleball and is making waves internationally. “I have been representing India at many international events this year. I recently competed in the PPA Tour in Asia, visiting Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Japan. I also won gold at the World Pickleball Championships in Kuala Lumpur last month in the women’s singles category. Apart from that, I also won gold at the Dubai Open this year and bronze at the Monsoon Pickleball Championships,” she said.

She highlighted that India is catching up to countries like the U.S., where pickleball has grown over the past five to six years. “The primary difference lies in experience, quality of practice, and physical fitness. But India and Asia are not far behind; we are catching up quickly,” Mihika noted.

Tennis Background Shapes Pickleball Success

Mihika credits her tennis experience for her strong performance in pickleball. “Tennis has played a huge role in shaping me as a pickleball player today. It is demanding, but I credit much of my success in pickleball singles to my background in tennis. Representing the country in both is something every sportsperson dreams of, and I feel lucky to do so,” she said.

She is also excited about competing at Chennai’s first beachside pickleball event. “That’s the thing I love about Pickleball, it’s competitive but at the same time very laid back and chilled out. People who play professionally and recreationally have a great time. Playing by the sea, accompanied by Chennai’s filter coffee and South Indian cuisine, makes it a unique sporting experience. Kudos to Rise Up Championships for this fabulous initiative,” Mihika concluded.

Mihika’s participation underscores India’s growing presence in international pickleball. With her success and experience, she inspires other players to compete globally, while Chennai’s PWR 1000 event highlights the sport’s rising popularity in India.
