Pickleball started in Bangalore in 2017. I started playing in 2018,” she said. She views the tournament as an opportunity to compete at a high level and enjoy the growing competition, alongside a prize.
Medals, Milestones, and Momentum
Kavya has a strong record in both national and international tournaments. “In one international event, I won two gold and one silver medal, and I have played around eight state tournaments. I have won medals in all the state tournaments. At the national level, I have won one silver and one gold medal,” she stated. She once balanced badminton and a corporate job but now focuses on pickleball full-time. “So, it has been a great experience till now. And I am on a winning streak. Let’s see what happens today,” she added.
Tournament Setting and Experience
The Rise Up Championship is held on coastal courts in Chennai, giving players a unique seaside atmosphere. Kavya praised the organisers: “The venue is so great. The arrangement is so classy. And there are two courts. I expected even more courts so that all the players could play evenly. It is very humid here in Chennai compared to Bangalore. So, I really, really appreciate that they have made indoor courts. I am very grateful for that.”
