As the tournament commenced, the first day attracted a star-studded audience, including notable figures from various fields. Among them was Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo, the president of the Indian Rifle Association (IRA).

Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo conveyed his admiration for pickleball, describing it as “a great sport.” He highlighted the sheer enjoyment of watching the matches, noting the thrill and excitement they brought.

When asked if he would consider taking up the sport himself, the former Member of Parliament from Odisha was enthusiastic.

“For sure, I think it’s a fabulous sport, it’s easy to play, it’s quick, you know it has a very bright future.
