Armaan Bhatia Conquers PWR DUPR India Masters: India’s Armaan Bhatia dazzled a home crowd on Sunday, clinching victories in men’s singles, doubles, and mixed doubles at the $50,000 PWR DUPR India Masters Pickleball tournament. The 25-year-old rode a wave of confidence and skill to secure three titles in a single day, held at Delhi Lawn Tennis Association Stadium (DLTA), drawing in fans from across the region.
Armaan Bhatia’s Comeback in Men’s Singles Final
Armaan Bhatia first squared off against USA’s Dusty Boyer in the men’s singles final, showing resilience as he rebounded from a game down to claim the victory in a thrilling three-game match.
Initially, down by a game, Armaan Bhatia adapted his strategy, securing the second game 11-9, and then digging deep to overturn an 8-0 deficit in the final game to finish with a nail-biting 11-8 win.
This was no isolated display of talent; Armaan Bhatia stormed through the tournament, defeating India’s Aashutosh Mehta, Ronav Motiani, and Aditya Ruhela in earlier rounds.
Mixed Doubles Brilliance with Roos van Reek
After an exhausting singles match, Armaan Bhatia joined forces with Roos van Reek from the Netherlands to compete in the mixed pro doubles final against Australian duo George Wall and Danni Elle Townsend.
The Indo-Dutch team took control early, with Armaan Bhatia’s quick reflexes at the net and Roos Van Reek’s fresh energy—she had just won the women’s doubles with Kaitlynn Hart.
They claimed the first game 11-5, but George Wall and Danni Elle Townsend made a fierce comeback, edging the second game 11-10. However, the final game saw Armaan Bhatia and Roos van Reek dominate, closing with an 11-1 victory.
Men’s Doubles Victory with Harsh Mehta
The evening concluded with Armaan Bhatia and partner Harsh Mehta overpowering Roman Estareja from the USA and Mitchell Hargreaves from Australia in the men’s doubles final.
The Indian duo wasted no time, with Armaan Bhatia’s swift crosscourt backhand setting the tone. Their offensive approach kept Roman Estareja and Mitchell Hargreaves on the defensive, and they quickly ended the match 11-3, 11-2.
Earlier, Armaan Bhatia and Harsh Mehta showed dominance through the rounds, notably defeating Leander Lazaro and Willy Chung in the quarterfinals and advancing past seventh-seeds Jason Taylor and Jai Grewal in straight sets to reach the final.
A Vision for Indian Pickleball
Reflecting on his monumental day, Armaan Bhatia shared his thoughts.
“It’s been a great day. The game plan throughout the day was to keep things simple and play each point as it comes. Playing three finals in a day isn’t easy but I have a great support team that kept me fresh through the day.” – (Armaan Bhatia)
