Armaan Bhatia on PWR DUPR India Masters Triumph: Armaan Bhatia, a leading figure in India’s pickleball scene and recent triple-title winner at the PWR DUPR India Masters, demonstrated his skill and resilience, pulling off intense victories under pressure at the Delhi Lawn Tennis Association on Sunday, October 27. Known for his composed yet dynamic gameplay, Armaan captured the attention of the crowd with his ability to rally back, even seizing wins from seemingly certain losses.

After his recent achievements, Pickleball Now caught up with the champion at Bennett University, where he’d just finished an exhibition match with US pickleball star Dusty Boyer.

High Praise for Bennett University’s Pickleball Facilities

Commenting on Bennett University’s pickleball setup, Armaan was enthusiastic. “It’s really good. All the 10 pickleball courts have been laid really well and the bounce is great as well. It’s a great facility over here, and I hope they host tournaments some day,” he shared.

The exhibition match also gave the university’s players a chance to take on the pros. Armaan teamed up with a student named Akshit, while Dusty partnered with another student, Param. Despite Armaan and Akshit leading initially, Dusty and Param managed a close win, finishing 15-12.

Supporting Emerging Talent and Growing Pickleball’s Reach

Armaan’s praise extended to the young university players, noting their potential for improvement with proper training. “They are good players but need to be nurtured well. They can do much better than what they did today,” he remarked, reflecting his commitment to developing new talent in the sport.

Beyond his success on the court, Armaan, along with his PRO Open men’s doubles partner Harsh Mehta, runs a pickleball academy in Mumbai that welcomes players of all ages. “We start from five years and we go up to 70. So there are no age restrictions at the academy,” Armaan explained, showcasing his dedication to fostering a vibrant pickleball community.

The Bright Future of Indian Pickleball

Armaan was especially thrilled by the number of young players who participated in the recent PWR DUPR India Masters. “It’s being taken up really well. At the tournament, I saw players under 16 years of age and even younger kids playing in a professional event. Adding more junior categories helps in the development of the sport. The future for Indian pickleball looks bright,” he said.

In a standout moment, the 25-year-old pulled off an incredible comeback in the PRO Open men’s singles final against Dusty Boyer. Facing an 0-8 deficit in the deciding game, he won 11-8. Reflecting on the intense match, Armaan said, “I was absolutely blank. In such situations, if one thinks a lot, the thoughts take over the actions. I was just playing every point as it came.

Looking Ahead: Armaan’s Vision for Indian Pickleball

When asked about his future in the sport, Armaan Bhatia’s outlook was optimistic. “I hope I will still remain the face of pickleball in India. I look forward to playing for the country eventually.
