Phoenix Suns Fund New Sports Court for Girl Scouts Camp

The Girl Scouts Arizona Cactus-Pine Council is set to receive a new multi-use sports court, made possible by an $80,000 grant from the Phoenix Suns and Phoenix Mercury Foundation. This project will take place at Shadow Rim Ranch, located within the Tonto National Forest near Payson, Arizona, and aims to create more athletic opportunities for local girls throughout the year.

Details of the Court and Community Impact

This half-court sports facility will support approximately 1,500 girls participating year-round, along with an additional 500 campers during the summer program. The addition of the court is designed to enhance recreational and physical activities, encouraging a healthy lifestyle among girls in the region.

Upcoming Support and Recognition from Phoenix Suns

The Phoenix Suns plan to further emphasize their support for the Girl Scouts later this month during their home game on February 21, where they will celebrate girls’ leadership and entrepreneurship. This ongoing partnership highlights the team’s commitment to empowering young females in Arizona through athletics and community engagement.
