Dill Dinkers Hilton Head Launches Soon – Why Players Are Excited

Dill Dinkers Hilton Head: Pickleball players in Hilton Head Island will soon have a new place to play as Dill Dinkers, an indoor pickleball facility, is set to open on March 5. The club, located at 95 Mathews Drive in Port Royal Plaza, will offer a space for both residents and visitors to enjoy the sport year-round.

Dill Dinkers is moving into a portion of the former Sam’s Club building, which has been vacant since 2017. The facility’s location near Folly Field and Burkes Beaches, makes it accessible to nearby neighborhoods and a convenient option for players on rainy days. The name of the club references pickleball terms, with “dill” and “dink” relating to a strategic soft shot in the game.

Membership and Court Access

Players have multiple options for accessing the courts. Memberships start at $475 for individuals, $875 for couples, and $1,350 for families of up to five. Non-members can still play, with court rental fees set at $18 per hour per person, while open play costs $21 for a two-hour session. Reservations can be made up to 48 hours in advance through CourtReserve, a scheduling platform for racquet sports.

The club will feature eight Pro-Cushion courts with fencing, a ball machine, clinics, private lessons, round robins, leagues, and a pro shop powered by Pickleball Central. Additionally, Dill Dinkers will have an event space for private gatherings of up to 60 people.

Development and Goals

The project was made possible by Hilton Head businessman J.R. Richardson, who purchased the former Sam’s Club property for $5.8 million. Two local residents, Zach Larichiuta and Dr. Wayne Johnson, signed the lease to bring Dill Dinkers to the area. They are part of Pickleball Brothers LLC, a group dedicated to developing pickleball facilities.
