Pickleball Meets Wiffle Ball: Pickleball and Wiffle ball fans in Grand Rapids will soon have a new destination to enjoy their favorite sports. Dinks & Dingers, a restaurant and bar featuring 10 pickleball courts and a Wiffle ball field, is set to open in Kentwood in early June. The venue is located at 5080 Broadmoor Ave. SE will offer a variety of entertainment options for the community. Dinks & Dingers is the creation of Andy Anderson, who envisioned a space where players could gather, play, and socialize.
Features and Amenities
The two-story, 30,231-square-foot facility will feature an American fare restaurant, a full-service bar, and indoor and patio seating. Players will have access to men’s and women’s locker rooms. In addition to pickleball and Wiffle ball, the venue will offer games such as ping pong, shuffleboard, and cornhole.
The courts and field will be open to the public, with walk-ins welcome. The venue will also offer court rentals and a membership program with multiple tiers. Details on membership pricing and benefits will be released in April.
Hours and Events
The pickleball courts will be open daily for open play from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. During that time, a smoothie and coffee bar will be available. The restaurant will begin serving lunch at 11 a.m. and remain open until 9 p.m.
Dinks & Dingers will host league games, lessons, and private and corporate events. Anderson aims to create a community-focused space that caters to casual and competitive players.
Inspiration Behind the Name
The venue’s name combines sports terminology from pickleball and baseball. In pickleball, a “dink” is a soft shot that just clears the net, while a “dinger” is a baseball term for a home run.
