Idaho Brothers Launch Premier Pickleball Store: Rob and Mike Barnes, the Idaho brothers behind Selkirk Sport, are set to open their first retail store in Meridian. The Selkirk Pickleball Pro Shop will launch on Thursday, April 3, at 3230 N. Eagle Road. The store will sell paddles, apparel, and accessories and feature an indoor skinny court for paddle testing.
Expanding Pickleball in Idaho
Pickleball has surged rapidly in the Boise area, with more courts appearing and increased demand for playing space. Selkirk Sport, founded in 2014 in Coeur d’Alene, has become a major name in the sport. The company’s paddles were recently named the best in pickleball by Men’s Health magazine.
Grand Opening Celebration
To mark the store’s launch, Selkirk will host a grand opening event on Saturday, April 12, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The celebration will feature food trucks, paddle demos, and giveaways, according to company representative Brynn Grissom. The store will also have trained staff to help players find the right paddle.
Timing with Major Tournament
The opening comes ahead of the Challenger Series, a pro pickleball tour that includes amateur divisions, set to visit Meridian in May. Co-founder Rob Barnes emphasized the importance of opening in Idaho, calling the Boise area “the natural choice” due to its active pickleball scene and growing community.
