The SALUKI Open 2025 will be held on September 13–14 at the SIU SALUKI Courts in Carbondale, Illinois. Players of all skill levels will compete in a round-robin tournament using PBR ratings. Registration is open until September 7 and costs $40 per player.
This two-day outdoor event allows teams to play “up” in skill level but not “down.” The format may be adjusted by the tournament director based on registration, weather, or other needs. No refunds will be issued due to weather disruptions.
Tournament Format and Rules
Each division will follow a round robin format. If enough teams register, events will be split into pools, and the top four teams will move into a playoff round. Smaller events may use a double round robin or change the score format.
The tournament’s official statement notes, “Teams may play ‘up’ in a higher event rating, but cannot play ‘down’ from their rating.”
Medals will be awarded based on event results or playoff outcomes. The tournament uses the Pickleball Brackets Rating (PBR) system. New players are warned to rate themselves carefully, as incorrect ratings can limit entry options.
Important Refund Policy
Organizers stress a clear refund policy. “The deadline for withdrawing and requesting a refund is September 5, 2025. Please note, all expenses will be subtracted from registration cost. Pickleballbrackets service fee of $5 is nonrefundable.”
Refunds will be processed about two weeks after the event. No refunds, credits, or makeup days will be offered for weather delays or cancellations. The tournament has no indoor backup plan.
Travel and Lodging Details
The courts are located at Marion Rushing Lane in Carbondale. Parking is free at the venue. A nearby hotel, Home2 Suites by Hilton, is three miles away and listed for player convenience.
Why It Matters
