Advanced Pickleball Training Game: The 3-Person Game Revolutionizing Skill and Strategy

Advanced Pickleball Training Game: A new training game called Discipline is helping pickleball players sharpen their skills. In this three-person advanced game, one player faces two opponents to test patience, decision-making, and control. The game was explained during a demonstration on Selkirk TV, where players practiced at a pickleball court.

A New Way to Build Pickleball Skills

Discipline is designed to challenge a single player against two. The solo player scores a point by achieving one of three goals: 10 touches in the non-volley zone, forcing two errors, hitting two winners, or a mix. Once a point is scored, the player slides to the other half of the court. The first player to earn seven points wins the game.

Players must think carefully about their strategy. They can choose to play safely with dinks or attack with faster shots. “You have some difficult decisions that you need to make,” the instructor said. If a single player speeds up too soon, it could backfire and cost them the point.

Rules Keep the Game Fair and Fun

Players on the double team must keep their shots within half the court unless a ball goes wide. In that case, “around the post” shots are allowed. “Anytime there’s a ball that gets wide enough around the post shots are legal,” said the instructor. This adds a real-game feel, teaching players to react quickly to mistakes.

When playing, the solo player must feed the ball in, not the two-person team. Feeding the ball doesn’t count as a touch toward the 10 needed. If the player fails to get 10 touches or causes two errors before missing a shot, their turn ends, and the next player tries.

Scoring and Finishing the Game

The score moves with each successful point. If a player reaches seven points first, others still get a turn to tie or win. “Let’s say John gets to seven; we each get our opportunity to get to Seven as well because we want equal number of turns on that side,” said the instructor.

Near the end, players must show even more discipline. Should a tie happen, the game continues until a clear winner is decided. The final goal is to master shot control under pressure.

Why This Game Matters

Discipline teaches players how to stay calm under pressure, work on patience, and choose the right moment to attack. These skills are vital in real pickleball matches. This game can help players improve their overall performance by balancing smart defense with timely offense. Selkirk TV encourages players to use games like this to boost their skills and invites them to follow for more lessons and podcasts.
