Pickleball Charity Tournament Highland Heights: Pickleball players are invited to compete in the “Pickleball for Charity” tournament on August 24 at Highland Heights Community Park, located at 5905 Wilson Mills Road in Highland Heights, Ohio. The event will support Find Your Voice Now, a nonprofit that helps women facing abusive or toxic relationships. Registration is open online and will close on August 20.
Supporting a Cause Through Sport
The tournament will be held on eight pickleball courts at the park. It was organized by Annie Roth, a resident of Beachwood, who co-founded Find Your Voice Now in 2022 with Mary Ellen Bartlett of Detroit.
“I started Find Your Voice Now three years ago with my partner, Mary Ellen Bartlett, of Detroit. We met on an airplane,” said Roth.
Their group provides support for women dealing with difficult relationships in their personal or work lives. “We now have 1,900 members from all over the world,” she said.
Fun Activities Planned for the Day
Besides pickleball, the event will include raffles with big-ticket prizes, food trucks from Pizzazz in Mayfield and Alecci’s Ice Delights, and information booths from various local organizations. These include the Jewish Community Center of Beachwood, Ace Pickleball Club, Soul Punch Self-Defense, Journey Center for Safety and Healing, and NAMI of Geauga County.
The event will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with in-person check-in starting at 8 a.m. and games beginning at 9 a.m.
Divisions for All Skill Levels
The tournament is open to 96 players, with about 40 spots already filled. Entry costs $50 per person or $100 per team. The games are divided into two sessions based on player skill.
The morning session will include players in levels:
-
3.0 (intermediate, less consistent),
-
3.5 (better consistency),
-
4.0 (strong, skilled).
The afternoon session is for beginners at or below the 2.5 skill level.
Helping Women Through Community Support
Roth sees this event as a chance to grow the group’s support network and raise money for the charity. “That chance meeting led to the formation of an organization that, Roth said, serves as a support group ‘that helps women deal with toxic relationships in both their private and professional lives.’”
The tournament allows players to enjoy a day of friendly matches while backing a cause that reaches women around the world. With food, raffles, and community partners involved, it promises to be more than just a sports event—it’s a day of unity and support.
