Connor Garnett Pickleball Routine Secrets: On Saturday during Major League Pickleball Salt Lake City, professional pickleball player Connor Garnett shared how he spends his day before and after a match. From breakfast to warmups and post-game recovery, Garnett’s routine shows how he prepares both his body and mind for competition.
A Slow Start to the Day
Connor Garnett began his day by sleeping in and enjoying a calm morning at his hotel. For breakfast, he had waffles, eggs, and sausage from the hotel’s continental spread.
“I try to eat as little around the match as possible so I have the most energy,” he explained. “But if I have more than two hours before my first match, then I’ll go eat more.”
He also took time to meditate by playing guided sessions on YouTube. This helps him stay focused before heading to the court.

A Stop Before the Court
Before leaving for The Picklr in Kaysville, Utah, Connor Garnett had to stop by a Verizon store. He needed to buy a phone charger after losing his earlier.
Once at the venue, Garnett joined the Pickleballtv booth to share his thoughts on Premier Level matches, showing his knowledge off the court as well.
Getting Ready to Play
To warm up, Connor Garnett followed a focused plan. He shared a quote from golf legend Tiger Woods about warmups.
“I like to quote Tiger Woods when he says that when he goes into a warmup, he’s not trying to hit the perfect shot. He’s instead trying to get 10 reps in of every shot. He’s not as concerned about the result of the warmup,” shared Garnett. “The whole point of the warmup is just to make sure your body’s ready to move explosively, so it’s about getting loose. My teammates and I will get together and we’ll run through dinks, drives, and serves, and we’ll play some points in mixed and men’s just to get some reps in.”
Focus on Fitness and Recovery
Connor Garnett explained how his off-court workouts help him stay in shape and avoid injuries.
“My workouts include a lot of cardio and a bit of explosivity and agility, but it’s really about keeping the body healthy and strong,” he mentioned. “I also love to get a massage after a tournament or get dry needling to help my body recover.”
Match Time Against Atlanta Bouncers
Later that day, Connor Garnett and the Utah Black Diamonds faced the Atlanta Bouncers in Saturday’s Prime Time Pickleball match. Garnett kept smiling during the game, showing his love for the sport.
“I play better when I’m enjoying it, and on a deeper note, you want to do something that you’re having fun with,” he said. “I’ve always been like that in sports. That mentality has increased the longevity of it because if you’re not having fun, I don’t know how anyone would play as long as they do.”
A Big Moment for Allyce Jones
During the match, Garnett’s teammate Allyce Jones made a diving volleyball-style shot that also turned out to be an around-the-post (ATP) winner.
“My first thought was I hope she’s okay, but then I can’t get too distracted because the point can still be going and if she’s out here giving it her everything, then I need to be, too,” emphasized Garnett.
Victory in Front of Home Fans
The Utah Black Diamonds won the match, giving their local fans something to cheer about. Garnett said that the team’s strong bond helped them push through.
“We have really good chemistry as a team, and with good chemistry it just makes it easier to continue fighting point after point,” he said.
Family Support and Winding Down
Connor Garnett’s mother, Christine Garnett, was in the crowd to watch him play.
“She’s a very nervous fan,” he mentioned with a laugh. “But it’s always fun when she gets to come watch me play, and I’m glad we got the win for her, too.”
After the match, Garnett planned to eat something carb-heavy instead of his favorite sushi, since he had two matches scheduled the next day.
“I’ll also take advantage of the hot tub in the hotel, too, so I’m fresh and ready,” he concluded.
He ended the day with eight hours of sleep to stay rested and prepared.
