Indian Pickleball Association leadership Overhaul: The Indian Pickleball Association (IPA) has taken a new approach by placing athletes and coaches in leadership positions. This move ensures that the game’s growth in India is guided by those with real experience, knowledge, and passion for pickleball.
Leadership with Experience
Leading the IPA is President Suryaveer Singh Bhullar, who is also the current 50+ Men’s Doubles National Champion. With several national and international medals, he brings both vision and practical experience to the role.
Supporting him is Aalap Sharma, the IPA Treasurer. Aalap is a former National Men’s Singles Champion in pickleball and also a top tennis player. His background as a certified coach and software professional adds both strategy and technical strength to the board.
Another key leader is Dhiren Patel, a member of the executive board and the National Coach for India. He is a US Open Gold Medalist and a top player in the 35+ category. He is also credited with training champions at the IPA National Center of Excellence in Ahmedabad.
A Strong Team of Champions
The IPA has also included several other accomplished players in leadership roles. These include Olympian and Asian Games Silver medalist in tennis Vishnu Vardhan, former India tennis players Vivek Showkeen, Visakh VS, and Dilip Mohanty, who is also a certified PPR coach.
Other names include former India squash player Farid Singh and Rahul Belwal, the 35+ Men’s Singles National Champion in pickleball and a former India tennis player.
Women in Leadership
The association has also ensured inclusivity with women on the executive board. Among them are Amrita Mukherjee, the current Women’s Singles National Champion and former Indian tennis player; Nazneen Rahman, who has represented India in tennis and is a top women’s pickleball player in the 50+ category; and actor Raima Sen.
Significance of the Move
By putting successful athletes in charge, the IPA is showing a commitment to player-first leadership. This structure assures the pickleball community that the sport is being guided by experts who understand the game deeply. The progress already made by the IPA highlights the potential for pickleball’s rapid growth in India.
