New Pickleball Courts Open at Overlook Park, Thanks to $250K Grant

New Pickleball Courts Open at Overlook Park: Lancaster County has a fresh addition for sports enthusiasts—new pickleball courts at Overlook Park, launched by the Manheim Township Recreation Department. This long-awaited facility comes as a significant advancement for the growing community of pickleball players in the area.

Grant Funding and Construction Timeline

The project was made possible through a substantial grant from Pennsylvania. The township received a $250,000 state grant, which it matched to fund the construction, breaking ground in September 2023. After a year of dedicated work, the courts were soft-launched in September.

Enhanced Facilities for Pickleball Enthusiasts

According to Stacey Morgan Brubaker, Chair of the Manheim Township Commissioners, the courts are a valuable addition for local players. “For all the enthusiasts and people that want to play, it gives them more work space to play it,” Brubaker shared. And the other thing that I’ve heard from pickleball players is this helps with competition.

Court Availability

The newly opened courts provide ample access, welcoming players from dawn until 10 p.m., offering more flexibility for enthusiasts to enjoy the sport at their convenience.
