PickleRage Expands to Florida: With Florida’s year-round heat and humidity, pickleball players have found a welcome refuge inside. As the sport continues its rapid rise in popularity, the Sunshine State has seen a significant uptick in the number of indoor pickleball facilities. The latest addition to this growing trend is the PickleRage indoor pickleball chain, which is expanding to Jacksonville, with another new location slated for Glen Burnie, Maryland.
PickleRage Brings the Game Indoors
PickleRage, which already has a strong presence in Miami Beach, will officially open its Jacksonville facility on November 22, 2024, with a grand opening event scheduled for January 3-4, 2025. The location, situated at 10320 Shops Lane, promises to deliver an exceptional indoor pickleball experience, featuring dedicated courts, community events, and opportunities for players of all levels.
David Smith, Chief Operating Officer of PickleRage, expressed excitement about the brand’s growth and the opening of these new locations.
“We’re excited to bring premier PickleRage facilities to both Jacksonville and Glen Burnie. These new locations mark a significant milestone in our expansion efforts as we prepare to enter Florida and Maryland for the first time, providing dedicated spaces where pickleball enthusiasts of all levels can connect, compete, and foster a sense of community.” – (David Smith)
Florida’s Indoor Pickleball Rise
Florida has long been known for its commitment to air conditioning, and that reputation extends to its pickleball facilities. The demand for indoor courts has surged in recent years, particularly in cities like Boynton Beach and Tallahassee.
In April 2024, GL Homes opened an indoor pickleball facility at its Valencia Grand development in Boynton Beach, while the Pickle Pad, a 27,000-square-foot venue, opened in Tallahassee just a few months ago.
Satellite Beach is set to join the list with the opening of Pickle Beach later this winter, providing even more options for players in the area. Jacksonville, which already boasts several indoor pickleball courts, including facilities operated by Toon Town, is expanding its offerings with PickleRage’s new location.
Expanding Opportunities for Players
The state’s indoor pickleball scene doesn’t stop with PickleRage. Across Florida, new facilities continue to sprout up. The Villages and St. Petersburg are adding major indoor court spaces in the near future. In Sarasota, The Pickleball Club opened in May 2023 and plans to roll out 15 more locations in the coming years, each spanning 34,000 to 40,000 square feet.
As indoor venues like these proliferate, players are able to enjoy the sport in air-conditioned comfort, especially during the sweltering summer months. PickleRage promises to meet those needs with “regulation-size pickleball courts with clear overhead lighting, fast, non-skid surfaces, and perfect temperature and humidity.”
For those worried about the physical toll of the game, PickleRage’s cushioned courts are designed to be easy on the hips and knees, making pickleball accessible for players of all ages and skill levels.
