Murray Celebrates Pickleball Expansion: The Murray Pickleball Association (MPA) has announced the official groundbreaking ceremony for the Rudolph Pickleball Complex at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 10, at Murray Central Park, located at the corner of Arcadia Drive. This state-of-the-art facility, named in honor of the Rudolph family, is made possible by a significant donation they provided earlier in the year.
Phase One: Construction of Five Courts
Tim Thurmond, president of the MPA, revealed that phase one will involve the construction of five of the ten planned pickleball courts.
“Phase one will begin with the construction of five of 10 courts. Plans are to build courts 1,2,5,6, and the championship court #1 (see photo). Phase two will be constructed when funding is available.” – (Tim Thurmond)
Seeking Donations for Court Lighting
While funds are secured to build the first five courts, Thurmond emphasized the need for additional support for lighting.
“This will greatly expand the usage of the courts.”
The MPA is seeking $75,000 to install professional-grade lighting for tournaments.
“We will need $75,000 to install tournament/professional-grade lights. Any donation levels would be helpful and greatly appreciated.”
Community Invitation
Thurmond encouraged the community to join in celebrating the groundbreaking of this exciting new addition to Murray’s park system. The new complex promises to be a hub for pickleball players, fostering recreation and competitive play in the area.
