Dink Minor League Pickleball Brings High-Stakes Team Showdown to Canberra—Will Your Club Rise to the Challenge?

Dink Minor League Pickleball Canberra: The Dink Minor League Pickleball event will be held on August 9, 2025, at the Queanbeyan Park Tennis Centre, located at 15 Waniassa Street, Queanbeyan East, New South Wales. Registration ends on August 2, 2025, at 11:00 p.m. AEST. The entry fee is AUD 75.00 per player.

Format and Team Details

This team-based competition follows the MLPlay™ format. Each team will have four players—two women and two men. Teams will face off in four games: one women’s doubles, one men’s doubles, and two mixed doubles matches. If both teams win two games each, the match goes to a Dreambreaker™, where players rotate after every four points in a singles showdown to 21, win by two.

“The Dink Minor League Pickleball is sweeping the nation with its innovative, fun and social amateur MLPlay™ Team Event.”

Winners will receive medals and earn a spot in the National Championships at Queensland Tennis Centre from September 12–14. Top teams from there could qualify for the USA Nationals.

Registration, Divisions, and DUPR Ratings

To join the tournament, players must have a DUPR account. Ratings are locked once a team registers, so changes in DUPR scores will not affect the bracket placement.

Teams can enter under four divisions:

  • DUPR 18: Team total not over 18.30; no player over 5.10

  • DUPR 16: Team total not over 16.30; no player over 4.60

  • DUPR 14: Team total not over 14.30; no player over 4.10

  • DUPR 12: Team total not over 12.30; no player over 3.60

Unrated players may join, but their skill levels will be reviewed by the event director.

“Once a team registers… their ratings are ‘locked’… and will not impact the team’s aggregate or division placement.”

Single Players and Team Formation

Players may sign up alone. If they have a team, they must note the team name and division. Example: “Mad Drops – 18.” If a solo player cannot be placed on a team, a full refund will be given, minus minor fees.

“If you want to play in the Minor League event but are unable to form a team, the tournament director will do their best to place you on a team.”

Rewards for Teams and Clubs

Besides medals and national qualifications, the club that registers the most teams will win a special prize pack and be featured on Minor League Pickleball and Minor League Pickleball Association platforms.

Refund and Cancellation Policy

Players who cancel at least 15 days before the event can get a refund minus a AUD 5.00 tech fee and a 3% processing fee. No refunds are allowed after that deadline. Solo players not placed on a team will receive the same refund within 3–5 business days post-event.

“To receive a refund minus the $5 technology fee and the 3% processing fee, cancellation must be received by the end of day 15 days prior…”

Future of Team Play in Pickleball

This Canberra stop is part of a growing series of Minor League Pickleball events across Australia. By blending mixed play with a fast-moving format, the league is helping expand the sport’s reach and promote local clubs. Top players may soon find themselves competing on the world stage.
