The 4th Annual Sharon Jefkins Memorial Pickleball Tournament will be held from January 9 to January 12, 2025, at the FNS Pickleball Club in San Benito, Texas. Registration is currently open, with early registration available until November 30, 2024, at a fee of $35. Afterward, the price will increase to $40.
Event Format and Competition Details
The tournament will feature various events, including men’s and women’s skinny singles, doubles in multiple age groups, and mixed doubles. Brackets will follow different formats such as double elimination and round robin.
For example, the winner’s bracket will have the best two out of three matches for 11 points, while the lower bracket will have single games to 15 points.
Skinny singles will be played on half the court, with no cross-court play. Competitive brackets are for players ranked 3.5 and above, while recreational brackets are for players rated 3.0 and below. Players who won gold in the recreational brackets last year will be moved to the competitive brackets this year.
Special Events and Amenities
Registered players will receive water and snacks throughout the tournament. Food trucks will be available on-site. On January 9, 2025, a kick-off party will be held at Parry’s Pizzeria and Taphouse in Brownsville, Texas.
Participants will enjoy pizza, snacks, and a free drink. A percentage of all additional sales will be donated to the San Benito Food Bank.
Charity Partnerships and Additional Activities
The tournament will partner with a local charity, which will be announced closer to the event. A silent auction and other activities will be organized to raise funds for the charity’s goals.
Registration and Refund Policy
Registration ends on January 5, 2025. Refunds will be issued for cancellations made before January 1, 2025, minus a $10 administrative fee. After December 31, 2024, no refunds will be issued.
