WYAP’s Paddle Battle for a Cause: A Day of Pickleball and Community Support

WYAP’s Paddle Battle for a Cause: The Westfield Youth Assistance Program (WYAP) will hold its first pickleball event, “Paddle Battle for a Cause,” on Friday, Dec. 27, at the Grand Park Event Center. This family-friendly event runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is open to participants of all skill levels.

Supporting Youth in Challenging Times

WYAP serves youth ages 3 to 17 facing difficult life circumstances by connecting them with community resources. The “Paddle Battle for a Cause” aims to create a fun and engaging environment that reflects the families it serves. While there is no age limit, the event is recommended for participants aged six and older, encouraging families to participate together.

Event Schedule and Activities

The event will kick off with an hour-long clinic hosted by Indiana University Pickleball Coach Timber Tucker. This clinic is designed to help participants learn the basics of pickleball. Following the clinic, registrants will receive a free lunch before engaging in gameplay to practice their new skills.

Registration and Pricing

Families can choose from three different pricing tiers based on the number of registrants. A family four-pack costs $200, allowing four players of any age to participate. A two-pack is available for $110, and individual registration is $60 per person. More information and registration are available on the WYAP website.

Community Impact

“The ‘Paddle Battle for a Cause’ is more than just a pickleball event – it’s a chance for families to come together, stay active during the holiday break, and support an incredible cause,”

“Every paddle swing and every laugh shared on the court helps us continue to serve Westfield’s youth and their families, making a lasting impact in our community.”(said WYAP Board Member Rachel Nelson)

The event is sponsored by Automatic Pool Covers, Inc. and Westfield Rocks Referrals Group. Proceeds will benefit WYAP, enhancing the support available for youth in the Westfield community. With this event, WYAP aims to strengthen community bonds while promoting healthy and active lifestyles for families.
