New Pickleball Courts Open in Oyster Bay to Meet Growing Demand

New Pickleball Courts Open in Oyster Bay: The Town of Oyster Bay recently opened new pickleball courts at the Syosset-Woodbury Community Park in Woodbury, addressing the growing demand for the sport in the area. The new courts are now available for residents to enjoy and play.

Growing Popularity of Pickleball

Pickleball, a fast-growing sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and ping pong, has become especially popular among both seniors and families. The sport is played on a smaller court with paddles and a lightweight plastic ball. With more residents taking up the game, the Town of Oyster Bay responded by adding new courts.

Supervisor Saladino expressed his excitement about the new addition:

“Pickleball is a fun sport for all ages that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and ping pong. It’s become incredibly popular in our Town, with seniors and families playing daily at our existing courts.

These new courts will be a welcome addition to the community, so grab your sneakers and paddle, and get ready to play one of the world’s fastest-growing sports at the new courts in Oyster Bay.”(Supervisor Saladino)

Expanding Opportunities for Residents

The new courts in Woodbury are part of a larger effort by the Town of Oyster Bay to provide more pickleball facilities for residents. Pickleball courts are already available in other parts of the town, including Bayville, Bethpage, Massapequa, Oyster Bay, and Sea Cliff. The Town has plans to add more courts in Farmingdale and Massapequa in 2025.

Future Plans for More Courts

With pickleball’s popularity continuing to rise, the Town of Oyster Bay is committed to expanding its facilities. New plans for additional courts are currently being developed, further increasing opportunities for residents to enjoy the sport.

As the Town of Oyster Bay leads the way in providing pickleball facilities, the new courts are expected to bring even more residents together to enjoy this exciting and accessible sport. The continued growth of pickleball in the area shows the sport’s lasting impact on the community.
