The Picklr to Open First Pennsylvania Location: Pickleball players in Bucks County will soon have more options for their next match as indoor courts are set to open in 2025. The Picklr, a chain of indoor pickleball facilities, will open its first Pennsylvania location in the Newtown Shopping Center in early 2025. The Newtown Township Planning Commission approved the project in June. Bobby Nelson, a member of the ownership group bringing the franchise to Pennsylvania, shared that Newtown has a “very active and engaged pickleball community” and a high demand for indoor pickleball spaces. This new facility aims to meet that demand and provide local players with a state-of-the-art environment to enjoy the sport year-round.
Details of the Facility
The Picklr’s Newtown location will include 11 courts, with two designed as championship courts. The 35,000-square-foot facility will allow for reservations by the hour, helping manage traffic in the busy shopping center. Each court can accommodate up to four players, with a maximum of 44 players at any given time, ensuring the facility doesn’t become overcrowded.
Reservations will be limited to a maximum of 90 minutes per member, including a 30-minute warm-up period. The Picklr plans to operate its courts from 6 a.m. to midnight on weekdays and Saturdays. Sunday morning hours will also be available for bookings.
A Warm Welcome to Newtown
Nelson expressed excitement about opening the new location in Newtown, saying,
“The vacancy of the old Bed Bath & Beyond facility that we now occupy came open right at the beginning of our entrance into the PA market, and we couldn’t be happier with the space, the Newtown Shopping Center, and the community welcoming us as warmly as they have.” – (Bobby Nelson)
He emphasized The Picklr’s commitment to being a positive addition to the local community, providing a space for new and experienced players to enjoy pickleball.
