Pickle and Pin Opens in Grand Rapids That Combines Pickleball Courts and Golf Simulators in Historic Venue

Pickle and Pin Opens in Grand Rapids: A new bar called Pickle and Pin, featuring three pickleball courts and three high-tech golf simulators, will open on the west side of Grand Rapids on Saturday, January 4. Visitors can rent the courts and simulators by the hour while enjoying refreshments and beverages in a renovated 100-year-old building.

Unique Entertainment Options

Pickle and Pin offers a space for pickleball and golf fans to gather and play. The bar, however, does not have a kitchen. To address this, it will partner with local restaurants to provide food for guests.

Operating hours are 9 AM to 11 PM from Monday to Thursday, with extended hours until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. On Sundays, it will close at 8 PM.

Inclusive Space for All Ages

Co-owner Blaine Westerlund said the goal is to create an accessible and enjoyable space for everyone.

“Our goal was to provide a fun place for people to gather, regardless of their age, gender or skill level, so that they could enjoy these activities at a location that’s easy to access. We’re thrilled with the welcome we have received from nearby businesses and the initial response from people expressing interest in renting our courts and simulators,” Westerlund said.

Renovation of a Historic Building

Westerlund, along with Zachary Verhulst and Crystal Lettinga, transformed a 100-year-old building to create the new venue. The team hopes this facility will draw more people to pickleball, which is the fastest-growing sport in the United States.

Pickleball’s Growing Popularity

The opening of Pickle and Pin reflects the broader rise of pickleball. Entrepreneurs are capitalizing on the sport’s popularity.

Recently, Bounce Pickleball purchased a tennis and fitness complex to add 18 to 21 pickleball courts. The sport’s global reach is growing, with the Australian Open planning a Pickleball Slam during the Grand Slam.

Significance for Grand Rapids

Pickle and Pin will likely become a community hotspot, offering unique activities and promoting the growing enthusiasm for pickleball and indoor golf. This new addition will not only entertain locals but also strengthen the city’s reputation as a hub for innovative recreational spaces.
