Tournament Overview
The Low Country Pickleball Classic is a long-standing tradition, now entering its 10th year. The event will host various skill levels with players from the Sun City Hilton Head community and beyond. The tournament is divided into women’s, mixed, and men’s events, scheduled across three days: April 4 for women, April 5 for mixed doubles, and April 6 for men.
Tournament Format and Rules
All matches will follow a round-robin format, with teams playing against each other for a spot in the medal round. Depending on the number of teams, matches will vary in length, typically played to either 15 or 21 points. The event will use the Franklin X40 ball, and medals will be awarded to the top three teams in each category. First-place winners will also receive a special gift.
Registration and Costs
Registration for the event opens on January 14, 2025, at 8:00 AM EST, with a special early access code available to Sun City Hilton Head Pickleball Club members starting January 13. The registration fee is $60, with an additional $10 for those entering a second event. Non-residents must enter through designated gates to access the Sun City Hilton Head community. Players who sign up without a partner or without paying within five days will be moved to the waiting list.
Special Anniversary Celebration
To mark the event’s 10th anniversary, a Low Country Boil celebration will take place on April 3 at the Sun City Hilton Head Pavilion. This ticketed event features a catered dinner from Toomer’s Bluffton Oyster Co. and a cash bar. Tickets cost $25 and are available for purchase through the tournament registration or by contacting Tournament Director Steve Lerner.
Food and Amenities
Water and snacks will be available for players throughout the tournament. A food truck will be stationed at the North courts during lunch hours, and the Argent Lakes restaurant will offer meals on Friday and Saturday. For the South courts on Saturday, hot dogs and drinks will be sold by the Softball Club.
Refund and Cancellation Policy
Players can receive a refund if they are unable to enter an event or withdraw by March 30, 2025. A $20 fee will apply to withdrawals before this date. However, there are no refunds for cancellations after March 30 or if matches cannot be completed due to weather.
Venue and Parking
The tournament will be held at the Sun City Hilton Head courts located on Sergeant William Jasper Blvd., Hardeeville, SC. Parking is free, and players are encouraged to use golf carts when possible. A list of nearby hotels is also available for participants traveling to the event.
