New Pickleball Hub by Picklr: Picklr, the growing pickleball company co-owned by Drew Brees, is opening a new indoor pickleball facility in Seattle. The 26,500-square-foot center will be located in the Fremont neighborhood at 124 N. 35th Street. The center will offer tournaments, leagues, clinics, and memberships, with a $1 million construction cost.
Pickleball’s Growth in Seattle
Pickleball has become the fastest-growing sport in the U.S., and its popularity continues to soar in Seattle. Seattle was recently ranked the U.S. city with the most pickleball courts per 100,000 people.
The sport’s rapid rise has caught the attention of many, including Drew Brees, a former Super Bowl MVP and NFL star quarterback, who became a Picklr franchise co-owner and ambassador. “It’s no secret that the game of pickleball has exploded in popularity,” said Picklr CEO Jorge Barragan.
“Guided by strong corporate leadership and inspired by our enthusiastic team of franchise owners, The Picklr heads into this next chapter with an eye on bringing even more courts and a strong, like-minded community to pickleball players worldwide.”
A New Home for Pickleball in Fremont
The new facility in Fremont will offer a variety of programs, including tournaments, leagues for all skill levels, clinics, and training sessions. Both year-long memberships and single-day passes will be available.
This expansion comes as pickleball grows nationwide and in Seattle. The center will also help address the region’s need for more indoor facilities, especially given Seattle’s rainy climate.
Pickleball’s National Growth
Pickleball has grown by 51.8% from 2022 to 2023 and by 224% over the past three years. The sport’s growth has seen increased participation across all age groups, making it a major player in the recreational sports world. The opening of Picklr’s facility in Fremont adds to the growing movement to bring indoor pickleball courts to the region.
Seattle’s pickleball community has had to deal with a shortage of indoor courts, with most available courts located outdoors. The introduction of Picklr and other indoor centers, such as Side Out Pickleball Centers, are helping to meet this demand.
Drew Brees’ Commitment to Pickleball
Brees, who became a co-owner of Picklr in 2023, expressed excitement about the brand’s potential to build a strong community through the sport.
“Pickleball is for everyone, and there is no better place to be than The Picklr,” he said. His involvement has helped draw attention to the growing sport and its increasing popularity.
Future of Pickleball in Seattle
With the opening of Picklr’s Fremont center and other developments in the area, Seattle’s pickleball scene is set to expand even further.
The addition of indoor facilities will provide year-round access to the sport, encouraging even more participation across different age groups and skill levels.
