Triangle’s Top Pickleball Destinations: Pickleball, the fastest-growing sport in America, has become widely accessible in the Triangle, with numerous public courts and private facilities catering to all skill levels. Players can enjoy the game in community centers, parks, and even sports complexes, highlighting the region’s strong commitment to this rapidly growing pastime.

Public Pickleball Courts

The Triangle offers a range of public venues for pickleball enthusiasts. Raleigh boasts both indoor courts at community centers and outdoor courts at Method Community Park and North Hills Park. Cary has similar options, including both indoor and outdoor courts across parks and community centers.

Apex provides over two dozen courts spread across parks, community centers, and schools. Durham is home to courts at Forest Hills Park, Garrett Road Park, Piney Wood Park, Morreene Road Park, and Bethesda Park.

Wake Forest also features shared-use and dedicated courts, while Garner Recreation Center offers a central location for games. In Chapel Hill, Ephesus Park stands out with multiple outdoor courts.

Private Facilities

Private businesses have also embraced the pickleball trend. Pin Point, an indoor pickleball and golf facility, opened south of downtown Raleigh in October. It features 16 pickleball courts and eight golf simulators, with visitors able to enjoy alcoholic drinks while playing.

Another facility, Swing Racquet + Paddle, is set to open in 2026 in Raleigh’s Brier Creek area. Spanning 44 acres, it will offer 25 pickleball courts, 15 padel courts, 28 tennis courts, four beach tennis and volleyball courts, and a table tennis lounge, combining entertainment with sports.

Pickleball’s Rapid Rise

According to the Sports & Fitness Industry Association’s 2024 Topline Participation Report, pickleball has been the fastest-growing sport in the United States for three consecutive years.

Combining elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis, the sport attracts players of all ages, further fueling its popularity in the Triangle and beyond.

The variety of pickleball courts in the region ensures that players have ample opportunities to play, whether at public parks or private venues.

With ongoing developments like Swing Racquet + Paddle, the sport’s growth is set to continue, making the Triangle a hub for pickleball enthusiasts.
