Pickleball Hub in Dewitt Town Center: The Erie Canal Pickleball Center has officially opened its doors at the Dewitt Town Center, offering nine indoor courts to meet the growing demand for pickleball in Central New York. The center, built in the former Sky Zone trampoline park, also includes a pro shop, restaurant, and a mural celebrating the Erie Canal.
Growing Popularity of Pickleball
Brook Bregman, with CNY Pickleball, explained that pickleball has exploded in popularity in the area. “Three years ago, 500 people were playing this sport in this area, now we have 5,000 people who play the game,” said Bregman.
“We are teaching hundreds of people every single week.” The center was designed to accommodate this rapid growth, providing more opportunities for locals to enjoy the sport.
Features of the New Center
In addition to its nine indoor pickleball courts, the center features a pro shop, a restaurant, and a 7-foot-tall mural that honors the original Erie Canal, which once ran through the location.
Bregman highlighted that the center caters to players of all skill levels, with introductory classes offered daily for those new to the sport.
Pickleball for All Ages and Skill Levels
The Erie Canal Pickleball Center aims to be a community hub for the sport, offering a space where people can learn and improve their skills.“Even if you haven’t tried the sport, we have intro classes every day,” said Bregman.
“You can come and learn the sport anytime.” The center is committed to making pickleball accessible to everyone, regardless of experience.
