Pickleball Facility Set to Open in Newtown: A new indoor pickleball facility is set to open in Newtown, Bucks County, as part of a growing trend in the Greater Philadelphia area. The Picklr franchise will debut its first location in the region with a soft opening on February 3 and a grand opening on February 8.

A State-of-the-Art Facility

The Picklr complex in Newtown Shopping Center is a 30,000-square-foot indoor facility that was created in the former Bed Bath & Beyond space. It features 11 pickleball courts, a pro shop, and locker rooms with showers.

The facility is designed to reduce noise using special wall materials and includes camera systems on each court. The cameras will help resolve disputed line calls and can be used for training purposes.

Community Excitement

Local community members are eager to welcome the new pickleball venue. Bobby Nelson, co-owner of the Newtown Picklr, shared, “The local community here loves pickleball, and we believe this is an ideal location for our flagship club.”

In addition to Nelson, the ownership group behind the Newtown location includes John Williams and Tom Bock, president of Philadelphia-based Ernest Bock & Sons.

Significance of the Opening

The opening of Picklr’s Newtown location is a significant part of the growing pickleball scene in the Greater Philadelphia area. The new facility is one of several expected to open this year in the region, indicating the sport’s growing popularity.
