Myrtle Beach to Welcome The PicklePort, A New Premier Pickleball Facility

Myrtle Beach to Welcome The PicklePort: The City of Myrtle Beach has signed a Letter of Intent with The PicklePort to bring a new indoor and outdoor pickleball facility to the Grand Strand. The six-acre site will be located on 900 Harrelson Boulevard, with construction expected to begin later this year.

New Facility for Growing Sport

The PicklePort will feature 12 climate-controlled indoor courts and six covered outdoor courts. The facility will also include a guest reception area, snack bar, pro shop, practice space, and viewing areas for spectators. The company shared an early design render, showing what the facility might look like.

Dwight Hunsicker, Managing Partner of The PicklePort, said, “The opening of The PicklePort will be a shining moment for the Grand Strand. Resident pickleball enthusiasts, as well as the multitude of visitors to Myrtle Beach, will be able to easily access and reserve available indoor and outdoor courts nearly every day of the year.”

Approval and Planning Process

The Myrtle Beach City Council has already approved the Letter of Intent, giving investors time to assess the property’s suitability.

Construction is set to begin later this year, pending the approval of the final operating agreement by the City Council and receipt of necessary permits. Hunsicker estimated this process could take at least six months.

Impact of the Facility

The PicklePort is expected to serve a growing demand for pickleball facilities in the area. As the fastest-growing sport in the U.S., pickleball has attracted players of all ages.

The new facility will provide year-round access to indoor courts and help meet the increasing interest in the sport in Myrtle Beach.
