Encampment Pickleball Group Expands and Gives Back to Community with School Donation!

The Encampment Pickleball group made a generous donation to Encampment School this week, expressing gratitude for the use of the school gymnasium for their winter play. The donation was presented by players Peggy Huntley, Rhonda Martin, Deb Riker, and Tracy Schneider to Jake Johnston, the principal of the school.

Growth of Pickleball in Encampment

Formed in June 2023, the Encampment Pickleball group has quickly grown in size, expanding from just three players to 16 members this winter. The group’s rise in popularity reflects a global trend, as pickleball has seen a surge in interest around the world.

The group plays at the Encampment school gymnasium on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Throughout the winter months, this schedule has provided a consistent opportunity for the community to gather and enjoy the sport.

Community Support and Gratitude

The Encampment Pickleball players are deeply appreciative of the Encampment School and Carbon County District #2 for allowing the group to use the gymnasium.

The school has played a vital role in providing a space where players can enjoy the sport, particularly during the colder months when outdoor pickleball courts aren’t available.

As pickleball continues to grow in popularity, the group’s donation is a way of giving back to the community that has supported their newfound passion. The members hope to inspire further participation in the sport and strengthen the local community through their ongoing efforts.
