Jefferson City Pickleball Courts Damaged by Improper Snow Removal

Jefferson City Pickleball Courts: A man attempting to clear snow from the pickleball courts at Washington Park in Jefferson City on Jan. 30 unintentionally caused damage to four of the eight courts. Officials say the individual used a shovel, scratching and harming the court surfaces. His identity remains unknown.

Damage and Repairs

Ashley Wiskirchen, community relations manager for JC Parks and Recreation, confirmed that courts one through four sustained damage. While the city does not plan to press charges, they are working on repairs.

We know that this was good-intentioned, and that folks wanted to go out and play pickleball. Just the outcome wasn’t what was desired on either side.” – (Wiskirchen)

JC Parks has received a bid from the company that originally installed the courts. They expect repairs to take place in early spring when weather conditions improve.

Temporary Court Restrictions

While the damaged courts remain out of service, Wiskirchen encourages players to use the four unaffected courts. The department is prioritizing a quick resolution to restore full access to the courts for the community.
