Pickleball players will gather in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, for the UNC Pickleball Tar Heel Classic on February 15-16, 2025. The tournament, hosted by the Pickleball Club at UNC-Chapel Hill, will take place at the South Campus Recreation Courts and is open to players of all skill levels.
The event will feature men’s and women’s doubles on February 15 and mixed doubles on February 16. Players must register and pay as a team, with early registration costing $45 until January 25 and increasing to $60 afterward. Additional bracket fees apply.
Tournament Format and Rules
The tournament will use a set partner pool play format followed by a single-elimination bracket. Pool play games will be played to 11 points, win by one, while bracket matches will be best-of-three to 11, win by two. Medals will be awarded to the top three teams in each division.
The official tournament ball is yet to be decided. Matches will follow standard pickleball rules, ensuring a fair and competitive experience.
Supporting the Pickleball Club
Proceeds from the event will help fund travel and registration costs for the UNC Pickleball Club, including their participation in the 2025 Spring Nationals in April.
The tournament also highlights sponsors like Six-Zero Pickleball, HEAD Pickleball, and Sunshine Beverages, which will have product demos available for participants.
Amenities and Parking
Players can enjoy complimentary morning coffee courtesy of Caribou Coffee. Food will also be available for purchase at the courts. Parking is free on weekends, with ample space in the Skipper Bowles and Kenan-Flagler lots.
Registration and Refund Policy
Players must register through Swish Sports. Those arriving more than 30 minutes late to their event will be disqualified without a refund.
