Amateur Pickleball League Kicks Off: The Amateur Pickleball League (APL) is now enlisting players for its weekly sessions, offering a flexible and competitive environment for all skill levels. The league runs at three venues: Picklers, Legacy, and Xtreme, providing players the chance to compete in multiple games each week.
Weekly Play and Flexibility
The APL offers participants the opportunity to engage in at least 25 games per week, potentially reaching over 250 games during the 11-week season.
The league’s structure allows players to participate across various locations, ensuring flexibility in scheduling. To qualify for the playoffs, players must complete a minimum of 30 games during the season.
Skill Levels in the Capital Region
In the Capital Region, the APL offers four skill levels:
- 2.5–3.29
- 3.3–3.79
- 3.8–4.29
- 4.3–4.79
A new 4.8 and Up category may be added if there are enough players.
APL’s Partners Mixed League
APL has also introduced the Partners Mixed League, open to teams of all skill levels. This league provides an opportunity for players to team up and compete in mixed doubles matches, expanding the league’s offerings.
Registration and Pricing
To register, players need to create a free account at vairified.com. Options include:
- APL Open Play: $35
- APL Partners League: $30
The registration link is available on the league’s website. Pickleball players can schedule matches at their preferred venues, and rankings are based on winning percentages. Player stats are recorded after 20 games, with 30 games required for playoff eligibility.
Participating Venues
Matches will be held at Picklers, Legacy, and Xtreme, with additional venues expected soon. A full list of available matches is available on the Events page of vairified.com.
Player Ratings and Prize Purse
Players looking to compete for a share of the $2,500+ prize purse must have an official Vairified rating. For $59, the Vair rating service offers AI-generated analytics, performance tracking via the VAIR player dashboard, and a dynamic rating that adjusts based on match results.
