Phoenix Pickleball Tournament to Benefit Foundation for Blind Children

Phoenix Pickleball Tournament: A pickleball tournament will take place on Friday, February 28, at Phoenix Country Club to raise funds for the Foundation for Blind Children. Organized by the Young Visionaries Board, the event will run from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. and aims to support visually impaired individuals of all ages.

The Young Visionaries Board is a non-profit dedicated to fundraising for the Foundation for Blind Children. The foundation provides essential resources and services to the blind and visually impaired community. The tournament entry fee is $200 per two-player team and includes access to the competition and an open bar.

Supporting Early Intervention Programs

Jared Kittelson, Chief Executive Officer of the Foundation for Blind Children, highlighted the importance of the Young Visionaries Board’s work, particularly in supporting early intervention programs for infants.

“The Young Visionary Boards in particular, they’re passionate about our early intervention program, which is our infant program. Birth to to three years old that not only supports the infants, but the families. And creating some of those experiences, the family program, the support that doesn’t always get funded by state funding or different funding sources, we wouldn’t be able to provide those vital resources.” – (jared Kittelson)

A Fun Event for All

The tournament typically attracts 32 teams, but organizers encourage attendance even for those who do not play pickleball.

“We usually have 32 teams sign up, but even if you’re not a pickleball player, you can come out. It’s a fun event. We’ve got food and drinks and a ton of fun and support for the organization.” – (Tom Whitten, co-founder of the Young Visionaries Board)

A Growing Impact

The event not only raises funds but also increases awareness about the Foundation for Blind Children and its programs.

With continued support, the organization can expand its services to more families in need. The tournament offers a chance to enjoy a popular sport while making a meaningful difference in the community.
