Pickleball Debuts at Shaver Rec Center with 70 Players on Opening Day

Pickleball Debuts at Shaver Rec Center: The Shaver Recreation Department has introduced pickleball to its facility, drawing strong community interest. Community Demand Drives New Offering

Seneca recreation director C.J. Gleaton noted that pickleball was a top request in a community survey.

“In our community survey we sent out last year, it was a big request from our community of one of the activities they would love for us to add here for the community,” (C.J. Gleaton).

Plans for Expansion

The city is working on securing grants to add more courts, possibly at the former Seneca Middle School property once renovations are completed.

“Hopefully, (we can) figure out a way to get the funding, so, hopefully we add that for community,” . “It’s an up and coming sport for pretty much all ages.”(C.J. Gleaton)

Scheduled Play Hours
