New Pickleball Facilities in Coppell: Residents of Coppell Greens may soon enjoy two new pickleball venues in their area. Vistara Sports, which has been offering indoor pickleball and badminton courts since August 2023, plans to expand its facility with 12 outdoor pickleball courts and a clubhouse.
Expansion Plans at Vistara Sports
Vistara Sports is located on Vista Ridge Mall Drive and straddles the border of Coppell and Lewisville. To accommodate the new courts, Vistara recently acquired an additional acre of land. The expansion requires an amendment to an agreement signed in 2019 between Coppell and Lewisville concerning water, sewer, and trash services. Both city councils approved this amendment earlier this month.
Before the construction of the outdoor courts can begin, Vistara must obtain a special use permit for outdoor amusement. This permit will be discussed at a public hearing on Tuesday, held at Lewisville City Hall after 6:30 PM.
Coppell Entertainment Plaza Proposal
A second pickleball proposal is set for a public hearing on Thursday. A developer intends to build a 17,655-square-foot facility along State Highway 121, next to L.A. Fitness. The “Coppell Entertainment Plaza” will feature five pickleball courts, a 2,500-square-foot restaurant, and 2,200 square feet of retail space.
The land for this project was acquired by Coppell PKB in December. The site is already linked to a business named Indoor Pickleball X, which describes the concept as “your 24/7 pickleball haven.”
The upcoming hearings will provide residents an opportunity to voice their opinions on both projects. If residents cannot attend, they can return next Sunday for updates on the outcomes.
