Philadelphia’s New Pickleball Hub: VIVA Padel and Pickleball Club Opening This Spring

Philadelphia’s New Pickleball Hub: Sports enthusiasts in Philadelphia will soon have a new destination for racquet sports. VIVA Padel and Pickleball Club, a state-of-the-art facility, is set to open this spring at 1300 N 8th St. The club will feature professional-grade courts, a pro shop, and amenities for players of all skill levels.

The new venue will include four professional padel courts and four pickleball courts, offering leagues, tournaments, clinics, and social events. The club aims to be a welcoming space for the growing racquet sports community in Philadelphia.

A Vision for Community and Growth

“Our vision with VIVA is to create a welcoming space where people can connect through their love of padel and pickleball. These sports are more than just games; they’re a way to build community, stay active, and have fun. We’re excited to bring this experience to Philadelphia and can’t wait to see players of all ages and levels enjoying our courts.” – (Mehdi Rhazali, founder of VIVA)

Rhazali, a seasoned racquet sports professional, brings years of experience to the project. A Drexel University alumnus, he has led the university’s tennis program since 2012. As Director of Tennis and Head Men’s Tennis Coach, he has coached numerous Division One all-conference players. Now, he looks to expand Philadelphia’s racquet sports scene with VIVA.

A Unique and Modern Facility

The 90,000-square-foot venue, once a SEPTA train depot and parking lot, has been transformed into a high-end sports facility.

In addition to courts, the club will offer full locker rooms and a social space for players to relax and connect. The pro shop, housed in a refurbished 1968 Airstream Overlander 28, will provide top-quality gear and apparel for both sports.

Padel and pickleball have gained popularity in recent years. Padel, which originated in Mexico in the 1960s, is played on an enclosed court with walls, blending elements of tennis and squash. Its fast-paced nature and social aspects make it accessible and engaging for players of all skill levels.

Building a Thriving Sports Community

With the launch of VIVA, Rhazali hopes to create a hub for pickleball and padel in Philadelphia. The club aims to attract professional athletes and casual players looking to enjoy the game in a social setting.

“Beyond the courts, we want this to be a social club and a hub for the booming popularity behind padel and pickleball. VIVA is designed to cater to this growing demand, creating an inviting community where players of all levels can come together, have fun, and enjoy the game in a vibrant and social atmosphere.” – (Rhazali)

The club is expected to open later this year, bringing a new era of racquet sports to Philadelphia.
