The 2nd Annual Legends DMV Classic is set to take place from April 11 to April 13, 2025, at Dill Dinkers in North Bethesda, Maryland. This highly anticipated pickleball tournament will feature multiple events for players of all skill levels, using the DUPR rating system for bracket placements.
The tournament will offer various singles and doubles events across different age and skill categories. Friday’s schedule includes men’s and women’s singles, as well as select doubles events for older players.
Saturday will focus on men’s and women’s doubles, while Sunday will be dedicated to mixed doubles competitions. Some brackets will be scheduled on Friday to help reduce congestion on Saturday.
Tournament Format and Registration Details
Registration for the event opened on February 20, 2025, at 10:00 AM EST and will close on March 25, 2025. Early registration costs $45, with prices increasing to $50 on March 1.
Tournament entry fees range from $45 to $65, depending on when players register. A non-refundable service fee applies—$5 for one event and $10 for two or more events. Players must link their DUPR accounts to PickleballBrackets.com for tournament results to count.
The format will include either double-elimination or pool play, depending on bracket size. Tournament organizers may adjust skill and age divisions as necessary.
Medals will be awarded to gold, silver, and bronze winners. Champions in each division will receive a Legends Gold Pin and an invitation to the 2024 Legends Gold Medal Challenge.
Paddle Restrictions and Open Divisions
The tournament follows the USAP-approved paddle list but has banned the Joola TA-15 and Gearbox Pro Power paddles, except for open divisions with no age limit. Organizers cited a poll where players overwhelmingly supported the ban, as well as concerns over fairness and safety.
Open events, recommended for players rated 4.5 and above, will have a $70 entry fee and offer prize money to top finishers.
Prize payouts depend on the number of participants, with gold medalists earning 60%, silver medalists receiving 25%, and bronze winners taking home 15% of the pool. A special payout option allows players in 4.5 events to contribute an additional $50 to increase potential winnings.
Looking Ahead
With indoor courts at Dill Dinkers ensuring weatherproof play, the event is expected to draw a large crowd. Registration is already open, and players are encouraged to sign up early to secure lower fees.
As the first Legends tournament of 2025, the event aims to build on past success and deliver an exciting weekend of pickleball competition.
