Rush emphasizes that pickleball is easy to learn, making it accessible to everyone, regardless of athletic background.

“It’s super easy to learn, so that’s one of the draws to pickleball is it’s so accessible whether you’re an athlete or whether you’re coming from a non-sports background, you’re going to be able to play pickleball and you’re going to learn it fairly quickly.” – (Nicholas Rush)

The social aspect of pickleball also appeals to many players.

“It draws a lot of people of all ages, all backgrounds, anyone can do it.” – (Nicholas Rush)

Family Involvement and Community Focus

For Rush, opening this dedicated space is a special moment as he works alongside his family.

“I’ve got my sister, brother-in-law, and a friend. We are a small ownership group from Winnipeg. I think of what the Community wants and we’re going to we’re really going to try and deliver that for Winnipeg and the surrounding community and we’re really excited to do it.” – (Nicholas Rush)

Growth Opportunities in Headingley

Rush believes Headingley is the right location for this club due to its growth and development.

“Headingley is really growing. There are a lot of new buildings and we really took a look at existing buildings in the city, and there wasn’t a lot that was going to fit what we wanted to do and how we wanted the space to grow.” – (Nicholas Rush)

The facility will include indoor pickleball courts and has plans for outdoor courts in the future.

“We’re going to have the building layout the way we wanted it to be. There’s also the opportunity to do outdoor courts. There’s a good amount of space, whereas inside the city that was going to be a bit of a limitation.” – (Nicholas Rush)

Rush also mentioned the goal of expanding to the east side of the city in the future, offering even more access to the sport.
