Scottsdale Opens Free Pickleball Courts: Scottsdale’s Parks and Recreation department has teamed up with Scottsdale Community College (SCC) to offer six pickleball courts for free drop-in play. The courts, located near the Fitness Wellness Center, will be available daily from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., except on holidays, campus closures, and during SCC classes.
Addressing Pickleball’s Growing Popularity
The partnership comes in response to Scottsdale residents expressing a strong interest in pickleball during the Parks and Recreation Master Plan process. The sport ranked among the top five most requested activities, prompting officials to expand opportunities for play across the city.
Instructional Programs on the Way
Alongside free court access, SCC plans to introduce instruction-based programs at a small fee. Details on these programs will be shared on the SCC website once finalized. This initiative aims to make the sport more accessible to beginners while catering to experienced players.
A Commitment to the Community
City officials view the expansion as more than just a service improvement. “This partnership allows us to meet the growing demand for pickleball use in Scottsdale,” said Community Services Assistant Executive Director Nick Molinari. The collaboration reflects the city’s commitment to meeting residents’ recreational needs.
