Pickleball Complexes Near Coppell Greens: Two proposed pickleball venues near Coppell Greens took a step forward after public hearings last week. The projects include an expansion of Vistara Sports in Lewisville and a new facility, Indoor Pickleball X, in Coppell. Both developments aim to meet the rising demand for pickleball in the area.
Plans for Outdoor and Indoor Courts
Vistara Sports, which has operated indoor pickleball and badminton courts on Vista Ridge Mall Drive since 2023, seeks to expand with 12 outdoor pickleball courts. The Lewisville Planning and Zoning Commission reviewed the proposal on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, a developer plans to build Indoor Pickleball X on a vacant lot along State Highway 121, with the Coppell Planning and Zoning Commission considering that project on Thursday.
Phil Laberge, vice president of the Coppell Greens Homeowners Association, voiced concerns about potential noise from the outdoor courts in Lewisville and lighting issues at the Coppell site.
However, after reviewing the photometric plan, he said the homeowners association had no objections to the Coppell project. “The homeowners association was happy to welcome the new business to town,” he stated, adding that the building could help block highway noise for nearby residents.
Future of Indoor Pickleball X
Jason Chin, the developer behind Indoor Pickleball X, is also working on locations in Carrollton and Lewisville. He currently operates Indoor Pickleball Now in Fort Worth.
While pricing and hours were not discussed during the hearing, the business advertises itself as “your 24/7 pickleball haven.” The Coppell City Council will review the zoning change request on March 11.
