Pickleball Training Comes to Rock Spring Park with TJD Sports Academy

Pickleball Training Comes to Rock Spring Park: Washington Township Recreation is introducing adult pickleball lessons at Rock Spring Park this April and May. The program, led by TJD Sports Academy, will offer sessions on Thursdays and Saturdays, giving participants a chance to learn and hone their skills.

Lesson Schedule and Details

The Thursday sessions begin on April 24, while the Saturday sessions start on April 26. Players will work on fundamental skills, including forehand and backhand shots, serving, net play, and court positioning. “Washington Township Recreation has you covered,” officials said, emphasizing the opportunity for residents to take up a new hobby.

Registration and Fees

The program requires a nonrefundable fee of $165, due by April 21. Participants must bring their paddles, as they will not be provided.

Sessions will be available from 9 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. or 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Thursdays, and from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. or 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. on Saturdays.

Pickleball’s Popularity

Pickleball is quickly gaining popularity in New Jersey, blending elements of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong. The sport, created in 1965, is played with a wiffle-type ball on a smaller court, making it accessible to all ages.
