The Picklr Partners with JLL: The Picklr, a fast-growing indoor pickleball franchise, is expanding across the United States and Canada with plans to go global. With 31 clubs in seven states and a recent Canadian lease, the company has partnered with JLL to secure franchise locations and grow the sport worldwide.
A Rapidly Growing Pickleball Franchise
The Picklr started when Jorge Barragan, a former tech worker and ping-pong enthusiast, discovered pickleball. After seeing a packed rec center, he and his friend Austin Wood decided to create an indoor pickleball facility.
“Let’s do it. I’m in!” Wood said when Barragan suggested the idea.
Now, The Picklr operates 27 locations and is seeking franchisees across the Lower 48 states and Canada.
“We have nationwide aspirations and we’re moving fast,” said Chris Walker, The Picklr’s chief development officer.
Focused on Pickleball, Not Entertainment
Unlike some competitors that mix pickleball with dining and entertainment, The Picklr is dedicated solely to the sport. The facilities offer league play, a Junior Academy, and adult clinics. Food and beverage sales are limited to grab-and-go options.
“We are not eatertainment,” Walker said. “We’re a pickleball club.”
JLL, which has helped lease nearly 500 Picklr locations, believes the company has the potential to build a strong international presence.
“We’re thrilled to partner with The Picklr on their journey to grow the sport of pickleball on a global scale,” said JLL senior managing director David Nixon.
International Expansion on the Horizon
Picklr’s first Canadian lease is in Winnipeg, with plans for 65 total locations in Canada. The company’s long-term goal is worldwide expansion, solidifying its place as a major force in the sport.
