Pickleball enthusiasts and ping-pong fans have a chance to support a great cause at the Paddlestar Galactica Tournament, a fun-filled tournament benefiting 826DC’s free youth writing programs. The event will take place on Saturday, March 29, from 12:30 PM to 4 PM at Kraken Kourts and Skates (514 Rhode Island Ave NE).
Supporting DC Students Through Pickleball
826DC provides free writing workshops, homework help, and publishing opportunities for students ages 6-18 across Washington, D.C. Paddlestar Galactica helps keep these programs 100% free and accessible by raising funds through a unique, interactive competition.
A Tournament Like No Other
This year’s event features pickleball and ping-pong, and players of all skill levels are encouraged to participate. The tournament comes with a twist—players can fundraise before the event to earn game-changing (and often hilarious) advantages, such as:
- Forcing an opponent to play with a flyswatter.
- Showering them with ping-pong balls.
- Other surprise challenges throughout the games.
In addition to the friendly competition, participants can enjoy:
- Costumes and themed fun.
- Prizes for top fundraisers and winners.
- Free drinks for those 21+
