Pickleball players of all skill levels will gather on March 30 from 4 to 7 p.m. at The Atlantic Club’s new Pickleball Center in Wall Township for the inaugural HABcore Pickleball Social. The event, organized by 16-year-old Eliza Chiles of Atlantic Highlands, will raise funds for HABcore, a non-profit that provides housing support for families, veterans, and individuals with special needs in Monmouth and Ocean counties.
A Fun Event for a Meaningful Cause
The pickleball fundraiser welcomes beginners and experienced players, offering an opportunity to learn the game or compete in friendly matches. Pickleball player Kim Smith will lead games, ensuring a fun and engaging experience for all participants.
Attendees can enjoy food, beverages, and door prizes, making the event a social gathering as well as a competition. Family-friendly pricing is available for students aged 11 and older, encouraging young players to get involved.
“This event is a fantastic way for the community to come together, enjoy a great game, and support an organization making a real difference in people’s lives,” said HABcore Executive Director Steve Heisman.
“As affordable housing continues to grow as a dire need in our community, we’re excited to see people rally behind a cause that helps many of our neighbors live with stability, dignity and hope.” – (Steve Heisman)
A Teen’s Vision for Change
Eliza Chiles, a Trinity Hall student and HABcore volunteer, saw pickleball’s growing popularity among her friends and decided to use it as a platform to raise awareness and funds for HABcore.
“I hope people will leave the event with a greater understanding of HABcore and its mission and values,” said Chiles, who serves as chair of the Pickleball Social Committee.
She also hopes that some HABcore residents will attend the event so participants can hear their stories and learn about the organization firsthand.
“I also hope that some of the HABcore residents will be able to attend the event because I know people will really enjoy speaking with them and learning about the agency through their experiences.” – (Eliza)

The registration and sponsorship deadline is March 15. Those interested in playing, donating, or sponsoring the event can visit HABcore’s website to sign up.
