The Juneteenth Pickleball Tournament is set to take place on June 19, 2025, at Wyomia Tyus Olympic Park in Griffin, Georgia. The event marks the second annual competition celebrating the historic holiday while bringing together pickleball players for a day of sports and community engagement. Registration is open from March 2 to June 14, with a $35 entry fee.
The tournament will feature men’s and women’s doubles matches beginning in the morning. Players must check in at least 30 minutes before their scheduled start time. Court assignments will be sent via text on the event day. Participants are encouraged to update their Pickleball.com profiles to receive notifications.
Tournament Format and Rules
The competition follows a round-robin format, with the possibility of merging or splitting events based on registration numbers. Medals will be awarded to the top three finishers in each bracket. If brackets are combined, awards will still be based on the original divisions.
Matches will be governed by the USA Pickleball 2025 Official Rule Book. Players must report to the Tournament Operations desk to receive their scoresheets and game balls before matches begin.
Failure to report within 10 minutes of an assigned match time will result in a forfeit. Participants are allowed only essential items on the court, such as a paddle, towel, and drink container.
Scoring follows a structured tiebreaker system: the player or team with the most wins advances, with head-to-head results and point differentials used as tiebreakers.
Each team is allowed two one-minute timeouts per match, and players are permitted to hydrate between points without disrupting gameplay.
Food, Beverages, and On-Site Services
A variety of food and drinks, including soft drinks, sports drinks, and snacks, will be available for purchase at the event. The Spalding County Pickleball Association will provide on-site concessions.
Registration and Refund Policy
Registration is open until June 14, and a $15 administrative fee applies to cancellations made before June 6. No refunds will be issued after that date. The event is non-transferable, and there will be no refunds due to weather conditions.
The tournament continues to honor Wyomia Tyus, Griffin’s Olympic champion and the first athlete to win consecutive gold medals in the 100-meter sprint. With a mix of competition and celebration, the event promises to be a highlight for players and spectators.
